Badger Sheet Metal Works (BSMW) is a custom and OEM metal fabrication company that employs approximately 100 people of diverse talents. The vital work completed by BSMW’s team members supports businesses across a wide range of industries, including food and dairy, mining, petroleum, material handling, packaging and beverage.
Proud of the people who create its culture and shape its success, the metal fabricator’s employee spotlight series gives customers, partners and prospective employees an inside look at the operation and those who elevate it.
This month’s employee spotlight shines a light on Andy Copley, BSMW’s LFAB team lead.
BSMW welcomed Andy to its team in September. Drawn by the opportunity to work at a state-of-the-art shop with a sterling reputation, Andy brought 15 years of industry expertise, in particular a significant amount of specialized experience in large fabrication and heavy plate welding. Prior to joining BSMW, he worked at ACMF as a fabricator.
As an LFAB team lead, Andy supervises and coordinates work activities of fabrication team members, while also performing those same work activities. This includes operating various pieces of equipment to fabricate materials per customer specifications in conjunction with quality requirements, safety standards and manufacturing philosophies within a team environment. In this leadership role, Andy prioritizes employee engagement, operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
“Andy will be an instrumental part of BSMW’s future success,” said Dawn Aschenbrenner, BSMW’s HR manager. “He brings technical knowledge, rigging and lifting skills, and a commitment to operational excellence. We are thrilled by the unique experience he contributes to his leadership position for the overall betterment of the shop.”
